We started our business in 1997 with our Costa Rican Puzzle Boxes and gift items. Until September of 2001, we only sold them in local arts & craft shows. Our customers were so fascinated with the boxes that we started getting calls to make local deliveries and mailings to their out-of-town friends and relatives.
We've grown a little over the years but we're still a small and 100% family operated business. Our goal is more than customer satisfaction. We strive to make every customer as fascinated by our products as we remain to be.

For the most prompt service, we recommend that you contact via e-mail. We are a family-run business and do not have the manpower to monitor phone calls while processing orders, but we have access to email at all times.

How do you know if an item is out-of-stock or Sold Out?
We try to keep our website inventory updated, but since we have many "one of a kind" items this is not always possible. If you order an item that is currently out of stock, we will notify you within 24 hours. Because most of our items are limited editions or one-of-a-kind, we cannot offer rainchecks for sale prices on out-of-stock items.
You may pay for your order using Mastercard, Visa, American Express, or PayPal. If you select PayPal, you will automatically be directed to Paypal, where your payment must be made before your order is complete. We do not accept personal checks or money orders.
How to Order
Since our inventory includes many one-of-a-kind and limited editions, we only accept orders made over the internet or by phone. We do NOT accept mailed in orders, because by the time we receive your money, several days have passed. Then we must wait for your payment to clear, and then another week has passed. By that time, it is very likely that the items you wanted will be gone. We recommend online orders for most folks because we are a family run business and would like to keep it that way. While we are processing orders and packaging, we are not available to answer phone calls. However, if you feel you must make your order by phone, call us at 361-776-3615 and if we don't answer leave us a complete message and we'll return your call as soon as possible.
Do we have a catalogue?
NO. We do not offer a printed catalogue because so many of our items are one-of-a-kind and limited editions that by the time a catalogue is printed, many of the items are no longer available. Our website is our catalogue. We keep it updated regularly with all items that are available for order.
Shipping to US: We ship via USPS *Priority Mail (2-3 days from day shipped) or USPS **Express Mail (1-2 days from day shipped). Most items are shipped by the next business day, however occasionally we may experience an order backlog of 2 or 3 days. For USA customers that means you should receive your order within 3-5 business days. We also add a small handling fee so that we can insure your items are well packaged.

How much will my shipping cost be? To see how much shipping will be for any item(s) that you are interested in, simply add the item(s) to your cart and you will be taken to the shopping cart. Key in your zip code and shipping method and click "Apply". The page will calculate your shipping costs and at this time you can decide whether you want to continue with your order, abandon it, or select another shipping method.
*Priority Mail is not a guaranteed service, however in most cases it is delivered 2-3 days after it has shipped.
**USPS Express Mail is guaranteed to be delivered within 2 days from the date shipped.
Free Shipping is available on USA orders over $100. To receive your free shipping, select the "Free Shipping" shipping option when you checkout. All free shipping orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

Refunds All items (except for boxes with a personally engraved plate) carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. Personalized boxes are only eligible for a 50% refund. To return an item,
Email us to let us know you wish to return the item. No returns will be accepted without previous notification from customer either via email or phone.
When returning, include a copy of your invoice or packing slip and a note explaining why you are unhappy with the product.
Return products to the address given above in the condition received.
When we receive the item in its original condition, we will credit your card for the purchase price of the item(s) or exchange the item at your request.
Please note: If order was sent with free shipping, then the refund amount will be less the original shipping costs.
Due to the high number of fraudulent international orders, we will only accept orders from USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Germany, Italy, Norway, New Zealand, and Mexico. If you live elsewhere, we apologize for this inconvenience and hope that you are able to find your boxes with another reliable company.
Payment on international orders - We prefer that international orders be paid with confirmed PayPal accounts. Orders paid with credit cards from outside the United States are not always automatically authorized. We may require that additional credit card information be faxed to us for payment on orders made from a billing address outside the United States. This information may include one or more of the following:
copy of both sides of credit card
copy of most recent credit card billing statement
copy of cardholder's signature
You should return the requested information within 24 hours of being notified. Please be sure to provide us with a valid e-mail address so that we can contact you if necessary.
Any international orders that do not comply with our requests will be cancelled.
International Customs - We are not responsible for any Customs charges that are incurred on your order. Orders returned because of refusal to pay Customs Charges will only receive a partial refund. We are an honest company. Please do not ask us to designate your order as a gift or sample to avoid Customs charges. We also cannot be held responsible for the length of time your order is held by Customs. We will guarantee that we will provide all necessary information that is needed for Custom's clearance.
Shipping foreign orders - Orders shipped outside the US are shipped via Global Express. We only use Global Express because it can be covered with insurance, is more trackable, and delivery is much quicker. Shipping times will take longer than the 1-2 days quoted for US orders.
Now there's no need to make a trip to town and drive all over the place looking for the perfect gift. Our boxes and unique products make very one-of-a-kind gifts and many of them can be given that extra special touch with an engraved plate. We have several gift options available for your gift-giving convenience.
Free Gift Cards are available. Just fill in your message in the appropriate area of the check-out page. We recommend that you don't forget to include your name on the gift card.
Gift wrapping is available for $4.50 per item. To make sure the gift is wrapped appropriately for the occasion, just let us know who the gift is for and what the occasion is. During December, we will assume the occasion is Christmas unless you inform us otherwise.

Anonymous Gifts: We will send your gift anonymously at your request; however, if the recipient contacts us requesting your identity we will not hide it from them.
Discreet Packaging: To keep the element of surprise that is so special when receiving a gift, when you select to have your item sent gift wrapped to a separate address or person, we will not include the name of our company (Unique Box Shop) on the package. There will be no receipt with the order. Inside the giftwrapped box, there will be a business card with our name and address. Your personal gift card will be sent inside the mail package but outside the giftwrapped package, so you may want to avoid "give away" text on your message such "I sure hope you enjoy your box!".
We do not make custom boxes!
Our specialty is finding unique quality boxes from around the world. We are in the business of importing and we do not make boxes; therefore, we can not fill custom orders. For custom boxes, please search the internet for a custom box maker.
