"Wild Horses" Gemstone and Reverse Painting Box of India
*SOLD*

Gem11061pad$39.95pad
This box was first crafted from kadam wood in India. The lid is made in a very interesting fashion, using crushed gemstones as the "paint". The black outlines of the picture are done as reverse painting on glass. The color of the scene is added by placing the glass over a background of crushed gemstones. The result is a very unique piece of art.

This particular box was crafted by Prithvi Raj Kumawat, who was the recipient of the 2004 National Merit Certificate for Master Craftperson. The award is presented by India's Ministry of Textiles.
